I am also a newbie to chickens, and was excited to share a photo of the coop and run that I ordered for my small back yard flock of 7 average sized chickens. The run is 6'x6'x6' with an additional 5'x4' under the coop (fencing under coop not shown in photo). The coop is 5'x4' including 2 sets of 3 nesting boxes.

If I did the math out correctly the total run including under the coop is 56 sf. The interior of the coop is 20 sf. Hopefully this is a sufficient amount of room for the girls (8sf per bird in the run and 2.8sf per bird in the coop). They will also have free range time on a half acre of property everyday.
