this will be my first time getting shipped chicks and people are saying add sugar and vitamins, poly vi sol no iron..or avia charge,,or durvet vitamin and electrolites.. how much in the water and for how long? my first set of babies were from tractor supply so they were already running around doing great.. but these might need a little boost to get going. any suggestions?

Probably wouldn't hurt to give them a boost and get them drinking once they arrive, but it may not be necessary. You can add a little sugar to their water, maybe 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per 8 oz of water. We've never done the vitamins or anything more than the sugar water and they were fine, and just until we were sure they were drinking.

I usually pick up a packet at a feed store and it will have directions on the packet. This usually has the vitamins and electrolytes all premixed.
Many people just use sugar water or plain old fresh water.

GQF makes a product called Vitamines Plus that I like alot. Here is the link. www.gqfmfg.com/store/help.asp
