To keep her out in the winter, you could place a board across so that she cannot get in.My female khaki takes over the bucket. She sleeps in there.
I'm not sure how this is going to work in the winter. The bucket is heated but I have no clue how I'm filling it. It's way to heavy to carry from the house and add ice in there too.
