how much to charge for point of lay pullets?

Go to most any show and you can purchase good birds for less than the suggested $20 above.

Please don't cheat people just because it is the "in" thing.

They are HATCHERY STOCK. The suggested $6 above is probably about right.

The only one cheated with 6 dollars is yourself. I paid 3.00 a piece for my girls and then I started running lights and buying starter grower. 6.00 is giving away your investment and work. I am honest.

but if you're not in it to get what you put into it, and just want a safe place for your girls to go, then charging a lot may not be the way to go. If you are moving soon, you may need to sell them for $5 a piece but at least you know they have a place to sleep at night.

Anyone looking to purchase $20 dollar barnyard hatchery pullets, and pay for shipping them, needs to contact me asap, I have a stack of boxes just itching to be filled!

$ 6.00 is giving them away! Nothing wrong with asking $15 ~ $ 20. I put some 16 week olds on Craigslist for $15 and folks were more than happy to pay it. I'm 70 miles from the nearest major city. Mine were "HATCHERY STOCK" and mutts. They all lay eggs, you know. I'd butcher mine and eat them, before I'd let them go for $6.00!

To each his own. All I'm saying is you can go to any show in this country and find pure-bred excellent stock for that kind of price. Granted, some will be higher than that: much higher, but most are not.

Nothing wrong with Hatchery Stock. But they are still JUST Hatchery stock.

I guess I still believe in old fashioned honesty. Sorry, must be on the wrong board or something. saladin

Nothing wrong with selling hatchery stock. She never stated that she was going to sell them as show stock. Most people don't care if they are show stock in the first place as long as they produce yummy eggs. The ones who do care will go to a show and buy stock.

my hatchery stock lay just as many eggs as my SQ ones. just as much time and $ go into a hatchery bird why would they be worth next to nothing, $6 is less than what they would have cost them to raise it in a month.

I wish some one would raise my chicks to point of lay for $6, heck I would even provide the feed!
