how much to charge for point of lay pullets?

Around here on CL POL pullets go for $8-$15 on hatchery stock. $8 being for RIR, Orps, ect. $15 side of things being novelty EEs or Silkies or something. Breeder stock starts at $20, Show stock from Breeders $30 a pair, Rare breeds... anywhere in that range or higher.
I think you should ask for $10 each on a small sale, give a deal if someone wants all of them. Always price to make room for negotiation. If you ask $6... there's no room to do that without ripping yourself off. That's what it costs by the time you ship day-old chicks!

WOW...I'm looking at these suggested prices and I sure did get a great deal! I bought 4 barred rocks from someone in the same situation...too many chicks that grew up. I only paid $25 for all 4 of them at 15 weeks old. They were all laying by 20-21 weeks.
Do check your local craigslist because that will set your price. All the postings in my area are around $4-$8 per laying hen and that could be close to laying age....and $8.00 is high unless you want show quality.

Yes, you did get a great deal. I would sell you one of my RIRs for that price. You couldn't touch one of my araucana hens for that though. I have hatchery stock that takes care of my family just fine and then I have others that I had to pay a bit more for and look at slightly harder to find places for. Thats another story. But I am not going to insult people for doing what I have done, without apology, for years.

Ten miles away, someone has twenty pullets in their backyard and gives them away because the $$'s that they could bring doesn't mean anything to him.

I have a whole lot of hatchery stock from Cackle and Ideal right now about 25 and 30+ weeks of age. I would sell some of them for 20.00 each, but they are really not for sale and I wouldn't feel that I had much come out ahead. If someone shows up here with 10.00 and leaves with a hen, I liked them very much and I did get the short end. If the asking price is 6.00 + shipping cost ( reasonable shipping ) I will write out my check right now and start addressing the envelope.

wow. what this turned in to... lol!
i'm just trying to recoup part of the cost of raising them and find them a good home. a guy i work with is going to take 6 of them and give me $10 a piece. he knows they are hatchery stock, he just wants the eggs. i am not trying to sell them as show stock. yeah, right, my roo has only one waddle, HAHAHA, show stock my butt.
