My BIL is always looking for someone to do his dirty work and I usually do it because he is good to me and my family but I wont be stepped on LOL

Here is a link to The Bird Hitch Very efficient for breasting out waterfowl. The video says they did 361 birds cleaned in 40 minutes with 2 of these.

Just got a quote from a processor here in MA for ducks he wants $10 ea to kill gut and pluck. 3 dollars is charity work! Take $3 each and every 4th bird is yours to keep... That is fair.

The plucking really is not too bad, get a good scald. Prepare to look like you've been tarred and feathered, you WILL be covered in down. I hear that on many canadians the bulk of the meat is on the breast and thighs though,..

what did I get myself into??

I would be willing to try a few @ 7 bucks. I think I can do about 2 in an hour, but it has been a while since I did a goose. The only geese I ever processed was domestically raised. I have processed wild ducks. I don't have too much of a problem with plucking, but the pin feathers are a chore to deal with. I must have done something wrong everytime I tried waxing, because it never worked out quite right. 30 @ a time might be drudgery. Thats why I would want to try a small amount first.
I only like dry plucking because of offensive smells and messes. In this case I would also consider the down as part of my payment. If you could come to a place where you think you have something good going with your deal, you can stuff a whole lot of pillows and comforters with your little fringe benefit.
Now if you can get 10 a piece, more power to you. I know a few hunters that wouldn't have a problem with that. Then I know a bunch that wouldn't consider it worth while and would refuse and just do it themselves.

going rates for small flock processing here in mid michigan

chicken $2.25
Duck $5.25
Geese $7
Turkeys $6.75

We just breast and "thigh" out the geese, and most of the time, I make jerky (though I made a KILLER batch of wild goose chili last night).

Folks are generally willing to pay for someone to do processing. I do all of ours, but I also process deer for most of our friends

We're the only goose hunters in the bunch.
