How often do you buy new chicks?

Hi Nicok! I just asked about mixing chicks of different ages and was told that there's no problem with that. Big chickens can kill a chick, but if they're still quite young you can add more chicks.

Most people buy new chicks every 1-3 years when they're tired of their old laying hens, who usually get sold or eaten.

I myself almost never buy chicks, as my own birds last pretty long and I can hatch out my own at home.
