How often do you change the water in duck pool?

I tried going 3 days on the bigger baby pool, but really it needed every other day. So I bought a smaller infant sized pool, and change it every 2 days. Day one I fill it half full,, morning of day 2 I top it off to full, that evening, I dump it and leave it empty until the next morning. Works well. I gave the big pool back to the dogs, they were so happy to have their pool back!

Every day, they come running to play in the draining water. We have horse water buckets hung around that get dumped and refilled 3 times a day. Plus two auto waters that self fill. The goats, geese, ducks, chickens and dogs use the various water buckets/auto water stations.

I have several concrete mixing pans and a kiddie pool and a half rooftop carrier. The smaller the pan and the more ducks get changed more often or the hose put in and about half the water replaced.....every 2-4th day. It depends on the heat, sun exposure etc. Usually I go by smell....if it starts to smell I change it right away, and I don't let it get green. In winter and cool times I don't have to change it as often.... Some of my ducks are messier than others. Some just get in , get wet and get out. Some spend lots of time in the pool...floating. Some drink while eating from pool dropping food in it, causing it to stink sooner. I had a 140 gallon pool which is out right now, that I only changed 2x a month in . summer , less in winter., I'd say I average 1-2 times a week, depends on weather....etc.

Thinking about getting two Muscovies. How often would I need to change say a kiddie pool or small pond liner (2.5ft diameter)?

And what do they do in t he winter when it's freezing??

My ducks seem to like the clean water in their pool. Now they only swim in the pool when I change the water. While after 2 or 3 hours, the water get dirty and they don't want to jump in again. How often do you chang change the water in the pool? I don't want to get a big water bill in next month.
Funny. My pekins would not use their baby pool at all. Not even a quick dip. I was forever catching them splashing in a nasty mudhole under the back deck where my sons pool water splashed out. I moved that pool all over the yard filling and refilling and nothing made the ducks happy enough to use the pool. After doing this for a month I was out in the yard one day and there they were playing in that mud again so I called them over and tried to talk them into the pool by splashing and making noise. They came over and watched me splashing in it but they didnt go in. I was out of ideas.Finaly It hit me... I grabbed a sandbox shovel and scooped some mud from their mudhole and slung into the fresh clean sparkling pool water. Ugh... hated to do it. Then I walked away to go back into the house. Before I got to the door, SPLASH! They were in. Been swimming in the pool ever since. Even when clean....though not for long. I empty and clean every 2 days now but you would never know it because they still go to the mudhole then wash off in the pool. Ha ha... love those ducks.

I use the cement mixing tubs on days in winter when above 35* that way they can at least have a quick bath. I change my pool water 2X a week now but that is for 12 Scovy's in the large pool and 4 in the small kiddy pool separate from the other 12, I do use H2O2 in their water every other day and top it off with fresh.
