Hello! My newly hatched baby silkie (2 days old) has wry neck. I have to help it to eat and take its vitamins, so I was wondering how often I should administer her the electrolyte+Vitamin mixture? I see sources say 2-4 times a day, but I’m not sure if this is in addition to also giving her chick feed. Or if should mix the chick feed in with the vitamins and do that 2-4 times a day. I just don’t want it to go hungry or get dehydrated!

What is your vitamin/electrolyte mixture?
If she has symptoms of Wry Neck then I would give her 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4 tablet B-Complex once a day.
She needs to be hydrated well and given feed too. Probably get water and food into her at least every 2 hours or so.
Can she eat/drink on her own at all - can you post some photos?

Basically wondering if I should get up at like 3AM and 5AM -!

ok got it! Is that every 2 hours through the night as well? I don’t want to wake her up and stress her out. I’ve set an alarm for every two hours

she can’t do anything on her own, she flops over immediately and she can’t hold her head up. But I am definitely seeing improvements- she tries to straighten her neck out.

for the electrolyte mix, I’ve gotten Save-A-Chick electrolyte and vitamins mix, and I also purchased Selenium. I’ll take pictures in a bit, I just fed her some feed and sugar+water.

I would give the Vitamin E and B-Complex as suggested. Leave off the Selenium. Give her a bit of egg instead.
The save a chick already has sugar/dextrose in it, so I would not add more sugar to the feed.
Just make a wet mash of chick starter.
If she's sleeping through the night in the dark, then likely she will be o.k.
It's really up to your whether you want to get up every 2 hours or so during the night.

Ok got it, I set an alarm for every two hours and will do so through the night as well unless she’s sleeping. Will hold off on Selenium and make your suggested mixes. I have an egg yolk ready to go too.
Here are some attached pictures too- I’ve put her in a towel, in a bowl (to prevent others from pecking- plus looks like she can keep her balance better in this)

@SugaryPanPan — did your chick finally get better? I see you haven’t logged in in a while, but hopefully you’ll be able to update us :fl

I have a silkie mix with wry neck (barely hatched today not even 24hrs ago) and I’m debating on putting forth the effort to nurse it back to health. Thank you

Hey, there! I wish I had better news for you... unfortunately, the reason I poofed from this site was because my chick’s health deteriorated and my family and I decided it wasn’t fair to the chick NOT to put her down. We took her to the vet, and they recommended the same thing. It was a really traumatic experience for me honestly, so I ended up taking a break from this site :”(

I’d recommend taking your chick to the vet if you can, for a professional opinion. Again, I’m so sorry I didn’t have better news for you, because I know I was desperately looking for the same thing when my chick hatched and the days that followed.

Aw that's so sad. I am so sorry for your loss, she was such an adorable chick!
