How old is rooster when it starts crowing?

Hm. Maybe my males are scared to crow? I have like 7 roosters. I've heard mine learning to crow in the coop but that was it. They never tried again and it's been a few weeks. I'm not complaining though. But I have a big dominant rir roo who free roams the yard and maybe he scares them...

I got a sorry sounding "ba-doooo" at 6 weeks out of my black Australorpand now at 9 weeks I get a hearty "doodledooooo" but nothing yet out of my dominique roo. I busted him practicing when they were still in the laundry room by spying through the window.

I had two start crowing today.

One is an EE who is 16 weeks old. He managed to say, "Cock-a" and that was it. The other first-timer is one of my 12-week-old Barnevelders. He had a nice long crow, but sounded like he had the croup. Fortunately, neither one of them practiced much today.

I have one 20 wk old rooster who is not crowing yet. He's not even practicing! He makes some loud vocalizations but not any louder than our 1 yr old hens. We had two other cockerels who have already been rehomed. They both started crowing before they were 11 wks old. Maybe this last one knows that he is only allowed to stay until he crows!

My neighbors rooster just started crowing and he is 18-19 weeks old. His saddle feathers are just coming in too. He's a handsome barred rock.

My speckled sussex and buff orpington boys (they were all supposed to be girls) started to crow at 12 weeks and sadly had to go. The following morning after we got rid of the boys we heard our silkie crow who I had no idea was a boy (he was 17 weeks). I am really, really hoping I don't hear any more boys testing out their vocals from the coop.
