How old until you find out if its a roo or hen?

combs will be showing by 2 months ,
I took a guess with my roos , comb were a little
more red and the hens were yellowish.. and it came to be tru..
maybe i was lucky,

Yep, I've got the same question. Our older hens have red combs, too...So I'm having difficulty deciding if the little red combs are ALL roos, or if some are gonna be hens. I'm not very good with the pointy/rounded feathers thing either.

Usually the ones that have red combs early are Roos. The hens combs do not usually turn red until about to time to lay eggs. I have one that I thought was going to be a hen. The comb was orange for the first month, then one day it turned pink and by a day or so later it was red. Sigh.. then I had to finally admit it was a Roo.

I thought you could tell by if the wings bows feather out early?

Just saying, if this is so, then I got about 10 pullets and the other eight are still too young to tell. They are about a week younger than the first 10. The older ones are about 2.5 weeks old now.

I'm sooooooo very bad at this guessing thing. First, I looked at their wing feathers (day old), yep, they're ALL hens. Did some more homework, looked at the feathers again...oops, they're ALL roos. Now, I think we're about half and half.
