We got our first egg from one of our buff orpingtons yesterday. She was 21 weeks and 2 days old. It is small, but perfect! We got another today. Don't know if it is hers or if it is from one of her "sisters."
My very flighty EE finally started laying a pretty green egg. However, she refuses to use the nest box. It's too close to everyone else! The first time I caught her trying to lay under the haymow steps. I was able to pick her up and move her to the nest boxes. She stayed and layed. NOW when she's trying to lay, she wants to be in the stock tank. The tank is my infirmary. Well, she wouldn't let me close a 2nd time to move her, so I had to sneak up and lower the lid on the tank. That way she could lay her egg and the egg eating turkey wouldn't get it. She's SO stubborn...........
Oh I'm still counting the days, our ladies are only 3 months old (Bar rocks) anticipation...cluck cluck
