I was 22 with my first and 24 with my second. I had incredibly easy pregnancies. Not a bit of morning sickness with either, just some leg cramps with my first. Labor was fairly easy (even though it was 52hrs long with my second, it wasn't painful for most of it). I am 30 now and would love to have more kids, but I don't want more newborns. Give me a three year old any day but keep away the infants, lol.
Then we adopted five more with me being 42 when we adopted our youngest. I must say, having done it both ways I loved giving birth and loved having a child handed to me without going through pregnancy and birth.
When you adopt you feel great physically and whether you are handed (so to speak) a newborn or a 5 yr. old or a 12 yr. old - it's just as fantastic as the feeling of giving birth.
We have made the decision that if we adopt anymore they will be older than our youngest as we don't feel it's fair, for them, to be in our 70's with young children. That's just our feelings.
I will add that children do keep you feeling younger but it is as much a mindset as physical. My in-laws were in their 40's when they had my husband and they acted like old people while he grew up - he didn't have a very good childhood because his parents were never involved in his life (as far as activity goes). They loved him and took good care of him - just didn't have any energy or desire to play with him or let him do anything (like sports, etc.)
So - that's my plug for adoption .. so many children (especially older kids) need forever families. All they really want for Christmas is a mom and dad!
well i'm 33 and due in october with my fifth. plenty of people have babies at later ages and do just fine. just take good care of yourself and eat lots of high protein foods. the more the better.
aww you guys are making my want for another baby even worse!! LOL I had my first one month shy of 19, and my second one 5 days after I turned 24, and had my twins when I was 25. Still a lot of baby producing years left in me if ya ask me.
There are plenty of women out there that have babies at an older age and do just fine.
I agree with lurky. I had mine at 36 and 38 and while I recovered the skin on my stomach didn't!! I am the same size I was prior to babies, same weight, same measurements, but I have this crepey (not creepy) stretch marked skin that prevents any bikini wearing!
I was 31 when I had my youngest of 3. She is 4 years old now and we pinch ourselves everytime we look at her. DH and I are planning another SOON...because being 35 means I'll be 55-57 when baby #4 graduates from COLLEGE!! My Mom was 38 when I graduated...she still had 20 years of wonderful LIFE ahead of her...and still LOOKED young enough to have FUN with ME...we went to college together~!~ Believe ME...it is NOT fun to have your Mother make better grades than you and your Psych professor say..."Your MOM studied!!"!! LOL
I was 38 when I had my first & last (twins). Perfect pregnancy, very little morning sickness, no bed rest, toxemia, high blood pressure, every problem the Dr's told me I would or could have with twins, I never did, not even a early delivery. I was induced on my due date to keep from going over it. My boys were both 21.5 inches long , one was 7.9 lbs and the other was 7.5 lbs. First one was natural delivery & the second ended up being a c-section.
