How "rural" is your area?

whew! That's good.

We just got a Mc'd's, culvers, chinese restaruant, and a subway....quite different from the town I grew up in....before we just had a pizza place and a grocery store. Things seldom stay the same...sigh.

ahh... very rural compared to you all.

We have a gas station that you only can have a card, no people to run it. Our village is maybe 100 people in it. We live a mile outside of it. Don't worry though there is a "real" town just 15 miles away and a walmart 25 miles away.

I live 12 miles from the nearest town 8 miles from the nearest store and still wish I could get further away. I keep the front yard clean and the back yard is my own personal wild kingdom.

There's plenty of people in this town, like 30k I think

but it's still a redneck town

you could have a satellite dish bird bath if you wanted to just so long as you mowed your grass

We live in a city. But on the outskirts, we are actually in an unincorporated part and surrounded by incorporated areas. We are fighting the developers, coz we like our countryfied neighborhood. but they are trying to shove low cost housing in our area, coz we have the space. They stopped pushing for the moment, because of the economy, but they'll be back.
So we have a constant battle between city folk who move into the neighborhood because it is still kind of cheap and has lots of open spaces and because there are many small farms and then they realize that those of us who have lived here are kind of free spirited, don't want all the citified rules and regulations and don't play by them, we have chickens and roosters that make noise as well as horses, sheep and goats, and peacocks and guinea hens. We fertilize our fields, plow and harvest them. Have bees etc. Then these city folk who just moved here want to have city rules and that causes conflict. Oh but they only want rules for things that offend or bother them, they think it is ok for them to help themselves to whatever is on our property, let their kids and dogs roam in our gardens and throw their trash into our peach orchard.
Oh yeah, that was a rant

It was a small satellite dish upturned and attached to the deck and used as a bird bath.

They said someone flagged it before but it was up for sale and it wasn't spam... and it was a handy dandy birdbath... better than the concrete or porcelian ones...
