How soon is too soon for treats?

Our chicks are 1 week old today, and we just picked up some grit for them, but is it too early to give them things other than their starter crumble?

I soaked some plain cheerios in water and mashed them up a bit. The chicks went NUTS for them. My chicks are a week old...

give them grit for a day or two in there food. and then give them some treats. we give ours grit everyday, we mix it into their food every time we add some to the feeder. because you never know what they are going to eat, so that will help them take care of it. crickets from the petstore(HILARIOUS TO WATCH!!) are great to start with, and plenty of entertainment for yourself. I got the small ones so they could chase them. but the big ones they will tear apart, if you can stomach it than go for it!
