Ok, how high can these chickens fly? What is going to be a good height for a run that is not completely enclosed (open top) so that they stay in?

It depends on the breed. I had some white leghorns that flew up into the tree by the house. But now I raise Silkies and they don't really fly. They sort of hop, fly up a foot or two and flop back down.Tehe! My husband says 8 feet high is a good height. [IMG] Good Luck!

It depends on the chicken. Many of my chickens roost in the rafters of the henhouse and I would have to use a broomstick to touch it. I think they're using nest boxes to get to the rafters. But I also have multiple dog kennels attached for their run, and I believe that's six feet tall, and some of them roost on the partitions between dog kennels, so they perch on something six feet tall.

I have RIR, Auracana, BO and mixtures of each.
