How To Add Niacin?

Are you feeding them duck/goose feed or either an All Flock? There is niacin in those.
Unless you have a duckling or gosling thats showing leg problems or growth problems, I would not give extra.

The babies however should be on starter feed, to meet their nutritional needs while developing and growing.

I don't know the circumstances for you, but to answer your question- you can just sprinkle about a Tbsp on top of their food.
For adults I would do 2 Tbsp- because their feed quanitity is bigger.

I don't use containers for my ducks to eat from. They prefer to eat knock half their feed on the ground and eat it from there lol. I use crawfish trays. (IDK what they're actually called, its just a large round plastic tray)- but I'm from Louisiana so its called crawfish trays here haha!

I have a plastic shoebox for their drinking water. Its big enough for them to clean their bills in but too small for them to get in. Although I can't say they haven't tried.
Hahaha, I love it! That’s EXACTLY what ours do! They seem just as happy to eat it off of the ground as from their bowl!

The ducks are just on “duck” food (I’m not kidding, it was a 40 or 50 lbs. bag labeled duck at Tractor Supply!) so I assumed it had some niacin in it, but I didn’t know if it was enough

The babies are on a waterfowl starter, do you think they still need the supplemental niacin? Praise the Lord, I haven’t noticed any leg problems!

Ugh, ours too. I can’t seem to find a container I like (or them either for that matter) to keep the food from being spoiled.

Sorry, I thought you were asking about what they eat from lol.....

Maybe someone else can give advice for food storage if you store yours outside somewhere. Its too hot and humid here for me to even think about that!
Mine is inside and I use lid locking plastic rolling bins to keep my feed in.

No ma'am thats the best thing for them!

They are so messy but oh my goodness, how can you not be in such a good mood when you walk outside and hear them quacking at you, and running around, stomping their little feet and flapping their wings!!

The waterfowl starter should be good, but if you're concerned you could contact the company and ask how much niacin it contains.

I feed my adult ducks Nutrena NatureWise All Flock. It contains quite a bit more niacin than the minimum requirement for ducks, so I do not supplement with nutritional yeast anymore.

Oh no, I was!! I meant they “spoil” it by knocking it onto the ground! They eat some of it, but it’s not long till those big ole flippers stomp it into mud and it’s gone!

The humidity is next level here in Alabama too!

Thank you for the info and the link!! I’ll see what brand it is exactly (I guess I should know, but I can’t remember!)

Ahhh, it’s wonderful! They make my day so much better!! And I am convinced the ducks look like they are ALWAYS smiling!

Thank you so so much for your help!

Hey y’all! We have ducks (adults) and geese (babies) but I was just curious about how y’all actually get them to take in the niacin supplement. Since it’s a powder, do you have better success mixing it into their water, or sprinkling it on their food? And what kind of containers do you use for their food and drinking water?
Also, how much should I give?
Is it a “one size fits all” and the babies get as much as the adults, or do they get different amounts by age?
I have a drake flock and they dont get supplementary niacin

My son has laying pekins that he uses organic chicken layer feed as he cannot get organic duck layer feed. He adds I tablespoon brewers yeast to every cup of feed. His 5 way about 5 cups of feed a day [perhaps a little more now as he can nolonger let them free range in his back yard because there is a fence climbing husky dog in his neighborhood that gets out.] The girls seem to like the brewers yeast, which he mixes in with mealworms then puts on top of the pellets.

When I get pekin ducklings or sick muscovy ducklings [I rescue ducks] I add nutritional yeast to their crumbles: 1 tablespoon per cup of crumbles. I also mix it with meal worms and put onto of the crumbles. Ducklings love nutritional yeast. They do need water by their crumbles to wash down the powder

I use nutritional yeast for pekins ducklings because they grow fast and big and for sick muscovy ducklings as it contains more niacin than brewers yeast. It is also a lot more expensive than brewers yeast. Our source of brewers yeast--Josh's Frogs--sells brewers yeast that is not human grade so is cheaper than nutritionalvyeast that I get from Amazon
