How to be a good BYC citizen

18. Don't bump up ancient or out dated posts!!!
Unintentionally Guilty!!
I'm getting better at checking when the last post on the thread was but if something old is getting bumped chances are it's because I spent ages reading and replying to it before noticing that it was posted in 2017 😬. I am getting better at checking though. Sorry.

I don't agree that old posts should not be bumped up. There is a lot of good information that is old - some very old. When you add to it, a lot of the times, you are adding information that someone may need when they search. Most people, including me, use Google, not BYC to search, because frankly, you get there faster. Many times, there is great information that may be 8-9 years old. Sometimes I am so happy that I found something...but...it wasn't finished and I don't know what happened, but, other times, there may be a post from 2017, that someone added information to in 2024 and it helps so much if the 2017 post was not complete.

What needs to be added to this list is some posting sensitivity, that is just common sense. The one that loses the most amount of members is when someone is trying to save a sick chicken or keep a rooster and another member gets on and says one of two things 1. Just cull or 2. What are you feeding the chicken. Really? I have seen posts where the member has said they DO NOT want to cull and people will still say to cull. Are you kidding? If they wanted to cull, they would not be asking for help. Also, when a chicken is dying or very sick, asking what they are being fed - are you kidding again.
