How to Breed Black Breasted Red ?

Okay I've been using the chicken calculator again. I think my best results come from crossing a RIR and Partridge Rock together then taking the females from that cross back to Partridge Rock again. Since this (the Plymouth Rock is my favorite look other than the bigness of the cochin), I just want a deeper red look on them than the Partridge have.
What do you think about doing it this way?

OK That sounds good but where are you planning to go from there ? And if you are wanting to deepen the Red by using a RIR, you know to use exhibition strain heritage reds right ? Hatchery reds arent going to do you any good for deepening the red. If deepening is even a word, I dont know but it is now anyway.

Where are you planning to go from that cross ?

Maybe Deeper red isn't the correct word either, I just meant a darker red than partrtidge. LOL.
I probably will contiue with the Plymouth Rock look. Yes, I thought probably Heritage RIR's, but my problem is where to get them without spending an arm and leg for them.

Yeah Darker is what I was meaning as deeper too. There are several breeders with Heritage Reds and thats the only thing I would use if I were you if you can afford them. Chris has them, Pine Grove on here lives near me and he has so AWESOME ones. Maybe you can look throught he RIR Breed Thread and find a breeder that could send you a roo to work with.

I saw a posting on here (one of the threads) about someone around De Queen, AR that have Heritage RIR's (the Autry's). That maybe where I start looking. That is the area that my dad's family is from. I think we will be holding our family reunion in 2011 there this year also, if not there it will be near enough to go and check on them.

Okay, I have found a Black Breasted Red Madagascar Game Rooster (I'll try to post a picture next week).
To continue to get the BBRed do I need red hens? Would Silver hens work in getting some BBRed (Red Duckwing) hens?
