I have a pullet that I am concerned about. I really want to give her a check over but it is near impossible to catch her. When I have tried, she starts ducking and diving around and I am worried she will get injured, any ideas how I can catch her without causing her too much stress?

I have two who are nervous Nellies. I use their favorite treats to bait them, and then just grab them when they get close. I try to scoop them up from underneath their breast, it seems to not be as intimidating to them as swooping down from above like a predator would.

You could also try getting her into a little cat carrier or box by putting her food and water in there, then you can shut the box from behind where she can't see you.

Good luck!

The easiest way is to get her off the roost at night while holding a flashlight or wearing an inexpensive head lamp (I like the red light so it is less noticeable.) That is the best way to give any treatments, exams, worm, or medicate for myself.
