How to catch a very young stray pup --- (pic added)

I had a very picky puppy and I used some provolone cheese that had been in the fridge for about a month. very stinky and she thought it was quite delicious. But anything very stinky I think would work

Geesh! I am on pins and needles over this. I hope you are able to catch him and get him stabilized. It's sad to see them get so emaciated. Dogs, unlike Cats...cannot go feral they would not make it. Good luck and bless your heart! I wish there were more people like you. IT would be a better world.

Oh yeah, I think every one else here has beat me on any ideas I might have. LOL! I agree with the "stinky factor" to lure him...they love smelly stuff! Mine will roll on poop! Ugh!

I know this sounds gross...but, do you have a kitty litter box?? Put that in a trap. I have yet to meet a dog, that wont " clean out a litter box" UGH! I sure hope you can get your hands on this little guy, safely!! Be carefull...I will be watching this post to hopefully see a HAPPY ENDING!

Hi!
I think I 'over-estimated' his age.
He's getting sassy and sits in the woods and barks when I don't bring his morning and evening feed in a timely fashion.
I can't feed 'Flash', the wild pup, in the yard anymore (or even the fringes) because one of the 'yard-roos' ran him off (note to wild pup, not wise to growl at the yard-roos while you're sharing breakfast) and now that he 'acted up' they won't let the pup in the yard.

I tried everything suggested and some more to get the little guy trapped and he ain't going in a trap --- period.
He'll sleep up next to the trap on his bedding (a couple of old sheets), but is not tempted by and won't go into and would starve before, he went into the live-trap.
Given his condition, I wasn't going to *starve him* to trap him.
Lol, I tried giving his food a squirt of some 'dog wormer' and he scooped it all out of the bowl and covered it up with leaves (????) --- wouldn't touch it.
He's a strange little baby stray dog.

Slowly is the key, I know.

He ate dinnner tonight with the bowl *almost* in my lap (The First Time He's Let Me That Close), but still in the woods behind the house.
Makes me think he had a reallly rough beginning ---
I feel like I've gentled 'real wild' animals in less time than this pup.

Thanks,
Lisa

I think he's all dog.
He looks so much better than he did a month ago. He's growing in a nice thick coat and you can't count his ribs anymore.
It's amazing what a dozen or so scrambled eggs a day and puppychow can do.

He looks like he's going to be a tall leggy boy.
Any clue what breed (s) he might be?

Lol, anybody want to adopt a wild puppy for Christmas?

Thanks,
Lisa
