Can someone direct me to the thread that discusses this title? I am gettiing 2 turken pullets and 2 black silkie cockerals.

Furthermore, I have a 4yr old bearded bowtie black silkie hen.

The whole idea is for us to get another black bearded bow tie silkie hen as mine is not laying very often and would like her and/or her type to continue on in our little farm.

Not sure our "Lil Mama" will be able to mate anymore, so hoping to create some more of her. Not interested in "Show Quality" type.

How do I mate my turkens and silkies to get the bowtie bearded type?

I would try to put the hen with a silkie rooster to try and get fertile eggs from her. If no luck, the turken to silkie breeding you can just always keep any with a naked neck and keep breeding back to pure silkies each year. You're just wanting the dominant naked neck gene added to a silkie. You will get half naked neck bowtie each time. The bowtie only disappears with 2 copies of naked neck gene, one from each parent, which wont happen if always breeding back to pure silkie.

Thank you for a simple answer! Greatly appreciated!
Do you know when a silkie rooster is likely to be fertile? 4 months?
