how to deal with issue with "free" eggs?

Tell them you need to charge them for the eggs. Feed, bedding and all the other stuff does cost money. Some people are just nice and others take advantage of that kindness. Just say no. Tell them the truth about the cost to keep them.
Maybe you could tell them you don't mind bartering once in awhile but you cannot give them away. Your paying customers must come first because of the cost. Maybe they don't get it and just need to be told. Some people just don't think. Good luck.

I would not mention that in the future you might have some to give. these people sound like the type who will take it as a promise..

and my first gut reflex was, they are reselling them.. bad practice..

I also agree that they might be giving them out to their family or friends.. that also would P--- me off.. these are a gift from you to THEM, not to their extended family...

I sell eggs. but I do not sell more than 2 doz at a time.. there will be more when that 2 doz is used up..

I also do not hesitate to stop selling to anyone who has any kind of negative comment.. Like, these eggs seem small, or I can buy them cheaper at ---- , or even, I wish they were white.. You know where the store is , buddy...

The only eggs I give away to family are the silkie eggs. All other eggs are sold or consumed. If family and friends want large eggs they pay for them. They know I need and use the money to buy feed and such.

Family gets the free eggs, everyone else pays $2.00, a doz, If they call back asking for the "FREE" eggs just tell them that your awfully sorry, but your paying customers have already bought all you had and ask if they would like to be added to your list of paying customers.Esp since the chicken feed had gone up so much, it was taking all you could do to handle paying customers and family, but you would be glad to add them to your list of paying customers. and Yes I think they are selling your eggs, they probably think they have found a gold mine and plan on mining a long time.Hit the Stop button and let them fall off. marrie

Put a little "eggs for sale $2/dozen" sign in the yard where the neighbor can see it. Maybe he will get the hint.
