Well, there seems to be alot of talk about eggbound and internal layers lately. I am suspecting that at least one of my girls has this problem. I am trying to pilfer through all the posts to find my answer, but I'm still a bit clueless. I guess I am hoping for a bit of an anatomy lesson. Yesterday, I was trying to 'palpate' the rear end of Margaret. She has lost all the feathers on her heiny, her skin back there is red, and she seems a bit bloated on her abdomen below her vent. Her belly is all squishy, but when i was squeezing right above/behind her vent, I felt something hard. Is this where the egg is supposed to be prior to laying? I didn't get any eggs yesterday, unless they ate them. I'm going to go out and probe around Margaret again today to see if that hard mass is there, but I want to be a bit more confident with what I'm doing.
