No..You can buy electric poultry fence. Will electric fences hurt my ducks and chickens
that is correct. Us southerners have a whole different concept of what to do without involving the authorities. Its illegal in most states to relocate. I would call your local game warden and ask them what options you have. But as stated before, .22 or a 410 works pretty well.
Thank you I’ll try my bestWelcome to BYC! @ILIKEDUCKS
I have been dealing with foxes for the last three years or so, they have killed about six of my birds over the years ( definitely more if I wasn't there to stop it) I have tried various ways to stop them. One being waiting out at night for them with a .22 hornet ready to shoot, they never came. I guess if you baited a dead chicken/duck in a cage it might come more preferably a live one, but that would do a great deal of stress on the bird. I have caught around four foxes by baiting a foothold trap or conibear, Simply cover the trap under dirt and set some meat around the trap, Sticks, and brush can be placed around the trap in a way to make the fox step on the trap. I had a cowbell attached to the trap so once he got caught the rattling noise of the bell would alert me and i then dispatched with a .22.
Please don't use a live trap and relocate, It will only become someone else's problem. Fox's are very hard to catch, so it may take some time and determination to get the job done, but I'm glad I took care of it now because If I didn't I would have no birds left. My birds are free-range so that's why I opted out on the electric fence idea, didn't really want to spend 100$ dollars either. If you have a small yard I'm sure that would work too. Best of luck catching the fox, Sorry for your losses too!
