Ok I am taking a trip to Chicago to see my mom and family. I would love to bring home some eggs as most of my family has never had a fresh egg(I know so hard to believe!!

.

I need some great ideas how to get them safely there. Help me think this through to give my nieces and nephews a treat for life.

You may need to mail them. I'm thinking you won't be allowed to carry them on the plane (security risk?) and you certainly wouldn't want to put them in your checked baggage for fear of rough handling. The post office is probably more likely to get them there safely than the airlines. Just a though.

I take eggs in my carry on bag all the time, never any problem unless you count the TSA agents that want them lol

I put the eggs in regular cardboard egg cartons, the plastic ones don't work as well. Then I wrap each dozen in foil, several layers, to help keep them cold. Then I put them in the giant ziploc bags, the 2 gallon size, 2 dozen per bag. Stick them into my carry on bag and ask the TSA agents to please be careful, there are fresh eggs in there.

Where do you fly?, cause I can't get them onboard with me. And every airline I've called says no.

Would be great if I could though since I fly free.

That's interesting.
My husband flew from here (CA) to Rhode Island to visit his family. I wanted to send eggs with him, so I called the airline and asked. I was told "NO" because they considered eggs as a liquid and you are allowed only very small amounts of liquid (like sample size shampoo, etc.) either in checked or carry on luggage, and only 3 or 4 eggs would exceed that amount.
So I guess the person at the gate and the guy on the phone interpret the rules differently?

lol bring very small eggs

you are only allowed to bring very small shampoo bottles but they don't say you cant bring a dozen small bottles, if you have loads of eggs and can sacrifice a dozen to security, there may be a gap between what someone says on the phone, and the actual security people at the airport, and sometimes it will depend on who you see too, if and when you're traveling and get stopped be honest and just say you weren't sure, and would really like to bring them to your family. be nice and they may be nice back.
