How to gain chicks’ trust?

I am no expert, but what has worked with every animal I ever dealt with was, patience, calm environment and bribery on a level that would make the South African government blush.

I got a terrified pup, rescued after being tied in a plastic bag and tossed into a thorn tree at six weeks to decide I rock, by supplying generous amounts of beef shin stew from a distance. A guy who gives you stuff like that can't be all bad, right?

I only had chickens for 4 months but when mines were chicks i sat around them a lot and handfed them mealworms and chicken feed and also picked them up and held them

And now they trust me holding them and being around them and are calm around me

Treats and patience! I start giving them small amounts of mealworms after they are a couple of weeks old. Only the chicks that are willing to eat out of my hand get the treat. It's important to only give small amounts and to give chicks grit before feeding anything other than starter feed.
