We just hatched a new baby for the first time ever, only one made it out of the whole nest I think an animal got the other eggs when mama wasn't sitting on them. Anyways, mama is really good with her baby, dad keeps trying to kill it when it gets too close and also keeps attacking mamas wings we dont really know why? But anyways, we want baby duck to get use to being around us but every time we pick it up it freaks out and won't calm down no matter what! We try to handle it at least once a day, but its hard to catch! Will baby grow up to be apprehensive with us or will it eventually get use to us? Our other baby's loved us but we've never hatched our own before so I guess its already too attached to mama? BTW mama is a khaki Campbell and dads a Peking so its a half Breed

Momma has taught the Duckling to be scared...That is normal...Visit quietly and don't try to catch it...Momma makes distress calls back to their Ducklings if they cry...
Try hand feeding...It will be as friendly as the Momma if you give it time...
