How to get labor started

Babymakes5 I had a similar experience with my second baby (not the long labor or over due date; but the apgar issues, meconium and the not breathing). My son was born at home with a midwife; blue, cord wrapped around his foot, not moving much and not breathing (but still attached to the umbillical cord so he was still getting oxygenated blood). After cutting the cord and giving him an APGAR of 3, some stimulation and oxygen was all he needed- the same thing they do at the hospital. His next apgar was a 9; that 'blue baby' is now a healthy, strapping 12 yr old who looks 14.

In retrospect- your midwife was wrong to tell you to stay home, if you wished to go to the hospital she should have supported your decision.

OP; good luck, you are not that late with your baby. Hang tight! It will happen when you least expect it!

My first son was just fine, even being 8 days overdue. My second had poor muscle tone, low respiration, low heart rate, and was unable to regulate his body temperature for the first few days from being overdue.
 
I took care of someone in labor @ 44 weeks; she had 'senile placenta', full of calcifications. In chicken talk; the yolk is gone, time to get out of the shell! Similar delivery results to the 2 above. (No prenatal care or education)
Bravo for improved prenatal care & teaching, and shame on a midwife who let things get like that. They make a bad name for the good ones!

And not at all trying to scare you, no one in their right mind will let you go that long with good dates.

I guess I could be wrong, but we're only prgnant for a short time (even if it feels like forever!) but the health benefits to the child should last they're lifetimes. I thought it was worth the wait.
And yes, poorly functioning AC (still) and a cold natured, bad tempered truck in the winter. Plus a disabled hubby that needed a LOT of help with everything, and I was working full time and taking care of all the animals...
I breastfed, too - now that's painful! lol

I was told when I was pregnant with my 3rd that taking ibuprofen during pregnancy can cause you to not go into labor. I wonder if any of you that had extremely long pregnancies were taking ibuprofen?
 
Don't know how to hurry it up sorry, Steven was born halfway through the 7th month and is still in a hurry. But I sure you have a wonderful, easy delivery with your little one!
 
I have not read any of the posts but I Know for a fact that conjagul
relations brought on labor in my wife for our third child. I swear on my honesty I did not want to do it but she was very forceful about and it happened accidently. the baby came a month early! REALLY I SWEAR!!!!!!!
