how to get rid of a hawk killing my chickens

*Game warden comes to your property*
Have you seen a hawk I was told it was going after some birds and a crazy farmer was going to shoot it.
Me: I saw it this morning but that was it. *chuckles under breath*
I saw a bird similar to a hawk a few days back (he didn't ask if you saw it today and are you an expert? Are you SURE it WAS a hawk?)
Don't know any farmers (farmers grow crops)
Lies of omission?

You know the whole thing here in Missouri is strange.

We had a fox three years ago decimate the flocks on our road killing chickens and guineas to feed her kits. I didn't lose any birds but I've got a Fort Knox coop and run but everyone else did.

When I called the conservation dept and asked them if they would catch and remove the mother and her kits they said no. They have proven to be a threat and have killed livestock. You all have the right to shoot them on sight.

Okaaaaay...then then there is the story we heard about an area person who called the sheriff about a neighbor's goats getting in their garden. Sheriff came, heard the story and said 'You called me out here to deal with Farmer stuff! This is a farmer problem, y'all deal with it!' and promptly left.

Okay, so which is it? A nuisance animal killing livestock or a Farmer matter? It does make one wonder, doesn't it?

Tbh, Most neighbors would probley not tell any one about your run-in with the hawk ;)
It’s illegal to kill hawks everywhere in the US. They get splattered all over the highways diving for pigeons and doves off signs and poles. There’s tons of hawks everywhere. For every hawks there’s a bleeding heart hippy so best to keep your issues to yourself.
