How to get rid of Pigeons

I had two that took the barn as a home last year ... Now I have about ten.

Is there any efficient way to deter them from nesting this year? Without killing them?

Wow ... that could be a lot of work. My barn is pretty big! lol

But it's mostly in the front where they lay. I suppose you can't rent a barn owl anywhere? Or a falcon?

This thread title made me smile as yesterday I was reminiscing about one of the dishes my mom used to cook when I was a kid. Creamed pigeon over toast points.

Pressure cook the pigeon and remove meat from bones. Save juice for gravy. Make milk-based gravy, add meat, thicken, season, serve over toast points.

You could try setting/hanging one of those life size plastic hawks or owls where they nest. I think Tractor Supply has them.

If they do I'd be up to get one.

I'm not into carnage so I just can't kill them. Suppose I could hire someone. But I'd rather scare them off. I mean we have ten acres of forest!! Why the barn.

I actually contacted a local hawking club and apparently they do this kind of thing ... who knew? So, we'll see what they say.

We have a life size plastic owl in the rafters of our barn turned mechanic's shop. As long as we move it around now and then it seems to work to keep the wild birds out.
