We started picking pears today for preserves. Still have a bunch on the tree but when you get old you can't do it all at one time any more.

Well, I'm sorry I missed all the suppers' last night. They looked terrific. Tonight I'm doing a homemade version of a muffaletta sandwich. Sourdough bagette with hard salami, turkey pastrami , provalone cheese and sauteed onions and peppers. All wrapped in foil and baked 15 min. Soooooo good with Dr Pepper. The only thing I have in the house at the moment. Unless I sneak some of SIL Crown Royal and coke. Nope, not tonight.
I had my 12yo gson Patrick with me overnight. He's special needs and a lot of work. "Patrick, hand me that metal bowl. No, not that sack of feed, the metal bowl. No, stand still and look down. It's next to your shoe. Which shoe, the one that has a metal bowl next to it. Never mind. Why not look at the chickens and I just get the bowl." Lot of work. I respect and admire his mom Brandi.

Funny, I can remember the big pear tree out the kitchen window-- but dont remember what we did with all the pears. It was not an every year provider though I remember one year it had a bumper crop.

Bet the pear jam is wonderful. yum!

I want to plant a couple pears this fall. Maybe my favorite tree fruit.
