I have a UPS (uninterrupted power source) the kind for computers and servers. My incubators are always connected to it, and in a power outtage I can add the heat plate to it and it still claims to last 6 hours. If I plugged in a light bulb it uses way more power than the heat plate. If my power is out for more than 6 hours in this 19 degree cold, I have bigger problems than just my chicks, since my heat needs electric to run, even though it’s gas heat.
You can also buy these things that are like portable jumper cables/ battery for the car, but some have a regular power outbound plug that you can plug something in, and you keep it charged and ready.
If you have a gas stove in your kitchen, you can heat rocks or something.
