Maybe I'm crazy but... couldn't you carry him into the coop through the human door so he could sit on the floor at least? Or do you not have a full sized human door?

No, not crazy! I do have a fuller sized door that I could carry and put him through into the coop, but he doesn't quite like being picked up. With how big he is, it is difficult to get a good grasp on him, so he starts flapping his wings like crazy. I'm afraid that he will have a heart attack if I put him through that stress every morning and night. So, I would rather not put him through that.

You can keep Cornish crosses as a regular chicken as long as you free range and make sure that the bird gets lots of exercise.

It is very difficult to pick him up due to his really round size, which causes him to slip, and thus the wing flapping. It can get stressful for him and for me.

Also, yes, a broiler bird is a meat bird, and yes, they do have cardiac issues, since they grow too large, too fast. That's why I don't want to stress him by picking him up every morning and night, I'm afraid of hurting his little heart. I never wanted a broiler bird, because I know there is no possible way I could ever butcher my own birds, nor send them off to be butchered. I think of my personal chickens as pets, and I couldn't do that to him. It's so sad, because I know his death is imminent, so I want to make his short life as best as possible before it happens. I never wanted one in the first place, since I knew I couldn't do it and it may be cruel, but now that I got him, I can't just kill him.

Haha! Yes! I actually always make him run for his food a little bit, and I don't free feed him. He is on a strict diet and exercise regimen.

That is understandable. I couldn't kill him either. A rabbit hutch gives him the space he needs. I won't put him by himself I would give him a couple friends. He is blessed to have you as his person.

What about a dog house with cinder blocks under it so he's off the ground a bit.
