I bought our only rooster @ the Colorado State Fair this fall
I "thought" he was a B.Rock, but browsing SandS website today, I found a picture of a Cuckoo Marans, and it looks" EXACTLY" like my 8 mo.old bird.
I want to add Marans, Australorps, Salmon Faverolles, and Welsummers this spring ASAP but not sure who I want to buy from ?
Is there a positive I.D. for either a B.R. or Marans??

Yellow or a slate, rather pinkish color? A picture might help - But, yeah, leg color is the main giveaway for the roo.

I'll double check on the leg color in the morning
Thanks for your help.
No matter what kind of bird, he's very gentle w/the girls and what a protector.
I wouldn't trade / or eat him for anything..

Barred rocks have yellow feet and some have the pinkish flesh colored lines like you mentioned and the OP mentioned about the slate gray overlay which is more prominent on the pullets. Also the barring is more defined black and white stripes or more of a bluish-gray hue on the males.

Cuckoo Marans have white feet with the pinkish fleshy lines and the barring is less defined more like blurry gray and white not exact equal amounts of black and white some kinda look more lacey than barred.
