How to keep a black bear from coming back

One of the worst things happened to our little flock, a black bear. Thankfully no feathers were lost and everyone was safe; just a broken nesting box door (image at the end). Now, I am trying to find ways to keep the bear from coming back. I am going to be bringing them inside my house each night for a few days to see if the bear comes back. In that time I need to figure out a way to keep the bear far away. I read that you can spray diluted bleach or just pine sol to keep them away, does that actually work? We haven’t had a bear problem in our two years of chicken keeping but since losing our dog, I believe that her scent kept them away for so long.

Definitely a horrible start to the morning but I am just glad there are no losses

Thank you! I was already thinking of borrowing some from a friend for a few days but I may need to invest in some my own.

I've seen people recommend putting peanut butter or bacon on it, to be sure the bear discovers it.

The bear did not return on our property last night! Hopefully he was just cruising through and since he found nothing, he won’t come back. We still may put up some electric fencing around.
