How to Keep Chickens From being Bored

My chicks are almost 6 weeks old and they love grapes. I freeze them and cut them in half. They expect me to bring them something. When I come out to the coop/run with those, the girls go crazy! I have to watch out for my toes or I'll get trampled by claws. I've tried to give them strawberries and they weren't to trilled about those. They also love cottage cheese and yogurt.

I am building a swing in my coop as my girls had one at the breeders and loved it

I love this idea! I have a tree branch that fell that's about 3' long that will be perfect to make a swing out of. I'll be heading to Home Depot tomorrow for some rope and eye screws.

Thanks for this idea!

I screwed one of those large eye hooks into the end of the cabbage and hung it on a chain from the ceiling of their run.Worked really well. Unfortunately, the little snots didn't care for the cabbage, but it was easy to put up and remove.

That's what I've done. My hens were leery of it at first but now they love it when I hang a cabbage.

I love these swing ideas, please put up some photos I think that would be a big hit!

Also liked the idea about the rocks, I have several large rocks/boulders in the yard I could re-locate to their coop for them to hop on.

I have a roost that is mounted about 4 feet tall in their run, and I tie treats up above it. I like to make them work for their treats.

Every now and then when I have some free time I will create a trail of meal worms around the yard and then let the girl's out to free-range. Once they pick up on the trail it becomes a race to the finish line, I will have to make a video next time I do it.

It's like Nascar meets Hansel and Gretel!

My girls and rooster love it when i bring bread in there yard.....i rip a piece off and throw it to them and then they take it and run off and eat it real fast......and they love it when i find a bug and throw it in the runl....they go nutz .

Our small flock free range all day with plenty of space, lots of grass, trees, and ivy, and roost in a tree all night. They commandeered a former small garden-patch for a dust-bath area (their "spa" as I like to call it) and they like to hang out there clucking at each other when they're not busy foraging. I don't think they ever get bored.
