Hi,
There's a company out there that makes a scientific pre laying supplement just for laying hens Hang on a minute, they sent me an email, let me see if I can find it. Lose the corn. Never feed corn during laying season, it lays on fat which keeps the abdominal walls from stretching. the stretching is necessary for the reproductive swollen organs to have the extra room. No extra room means fewer eggs.
Best,
Karen
nope can't find it right now but here's an interesting article:

Just curious, who recommends not using corn during laying season? How does fat prevent abdominal walls from stretching? How is stretching necessary for reproductive swollen organs to have extra room? How does that translate to fewer eggs?

It's all in studies and books on the Net.
