If I were you, I'd contact the hatchery that you got them from, as soon as possible, and let them know what happened. They should be more than willing to replace those chicks!

I'd contact the hatchery too! I picked up 13 chicks back in March Put the box on the floor by the heater and had about a 45 min drive home. Mine were fine, so I think that is odd considering it is much warmer out now!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I know how it is to look so forward to them only to have this happen. Try try again!!

I am sorry this happened to you. You should contact the hatchery and tell them they died on the ride home...I am sure they will replace them for you.

You will do fine. Putting by the heater is fine just not the coat.

I'm of course not sure what kind of car you have, but some older cars or just cars with faulty mufflers can leak exhaust (carbon monoxide) through the floorboard. That would kill chicks really quickly for sure. Regardless, please call the hatchery and don't give up on having those chickens.

goodness, where are you? Don't give up....go get some more and do not, I repeat, do not put them on the floor for heat. you can do this, I believe in you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

don't be so hard on yourself! you were trying so hard to do right by those chicks . . .
i agree with everyone else - don't give up!

Yes, please do not beat yourself up too hard... and know that someone else will learn from your experience, so you are actually saving chicks now!
They need the warmth, but they also need fresh air. It probably was the coat on the box that suffocated them. I'm so sorry... :aww
