Walk up all nice and friendly, then BANG! .22 to the back of the head!
I honestly think their brain is dead before they have a chance to feel it.

And, at the range of a trapped raccoon I don't think it matters .22 long or short. My rifle and pistol both take .22LR so that's what I use. The rifle is far quieter, but the pistol travels easier. The coon doesn't seem to have a preference

With kindness. lol I have one for a pet, and I still think the .22 is the best sollution. Call me crazy but I have a coon and a possum for pets. They are no why allowed near my chickens. I mean period.
