How to know if chickens are too hot or too cold?

The OP was in 2013, but the question was today!

From what I gather, the coop is not finished but the pullets have been moved outside into a kennel.

So, I tried answering this question but I felt too inexperienced! It just seemed like there were a lot of variables to consider.

Only a kennel? No coop? Is the kennel hardware cloth covered critter proofed? No way I would put them straight outdoors without a coop! The great outdoors is way too scary and rightfully so, critters can get them. Dew on them will make them wet and cold!
No, they need some sort of coop, not just a run! They are ready for an unheated coop but not wide open spaces even with a kennel run.

Good grief - you're right, too! Hahahaha!
Must be time for more coffee!

You did fine, don't doubt yourself.
These questions are easy, if they're fully featherd outside is fine.
Heck even if you answer dead wrong the fact you pipe up and draw attention to a question or problem is really helpful. :)
