how to make a hole in a non-pipped egg?

I just had one like that. All the other eggs hatched two days ago. I checked this last one and the chick was peeping like crazy. I poked a hole in the air sac and noticed the membrane looked a little tight. And the chick had not turned to pip in the right end. So I helped it along and it's drying off now in the incubator. Saved a lil Lavender Ameraucana.

LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!!
I'm not trying to be rude but hatching proves that the chick is strong enough to survive.... Even THEN its not enough.. If it dies it's probably best for the animal.

I do not agree with that. We as humans can not perfect mimic everything a broody hen does to hatch her eggs. If it is having difficulties hatching, it's probably because something during incubation was not right. I will always help a chick hatch if I see that it really needs it. It's not the chick's fault that I'm not a perfect broody hen.

i agree with madamwlf. how is dying better for the animal? it is the responsibility of the chicken owner to do everything they can to help thier birds. what if everytime a human had a difficult birth we said, "well, if he's not string enough to survuve on his own then he should just die"? that's not what we do. we do everything we can to save the baby, even if it is messing with nature. if a chick shrink wraps it's not the chick's fault. the strongest chick in the world couldn't survive shrinkwrapping without a little help.
