There is a heat wave coming tomorrow (108-110) and I have a mister set up yet they are avoiding it. Will they eventually figure it out? I don't want them to die of heat stroke because they didn't like the mist. The floor is getting pretty wet so I'm thinking they might just use the wet mud to cool them down.

Good info for Hot days. What do people do when its 90 at night? A fan in coop is not an option.

They also don't always like to be wet, because getting their feathers wet actually makes it harder for them to cool down.

Just put out water pans big enough to stand in, actually kiddie pools are perfect they'll step in and cool their feet which cools the chickens.:)
That’s what I use. Be careful to put it in a spot that will stay shady most of the day though, otherwise it will heat up and might burn them by mistake.

You can also freeze water bottles and the chickens will lean on them to cool off. I’ve also made iced corn cupcakes and put those out. You just freeze a can of corn in cupcake tins and they will peck at them and it cools them off. We also have a mister system and we use it just to bring down the temp and then turn it off
