How to make my chicken stop laying egg?

The world is full of good people, and eating pet chickens is way less common than you think. You will definitely want to meet the person and their flock (if they have one) before you give a beloved pet away. I know how hard it is to give away a pet, so I would just stick with allowing your hen to do what she does naturally, and let her lay those eggs. She would keep laying eggs if you gave her away, anyways, and sending her off to someone else just because you don't want to deal with her eggs is quite selfish on your part. Just let her lay those eggs. I promise you she is fine with it.

I wouldn't mind trading her, if they will take care off her the way I wanted them to take care for her or even better. I certainly won't do it, if they won't incubate her fertilized egg that is laid on their property.

Oh, bl**dy hell!

Don't post a thread if your not going to have the maturity to contemplate the answers.

Jesus Christ, the world is full of "Possibilities" but clearly your too young to accept that.

As previously stated, you have had good advice from a lot of people, people who have been trying to TALK to you about Veganism, your health & chickens. There are really no more good answers to your questions!

This is a pointless thread since you won't accept any answers from people more experienced than you.

My last suggestion is "Give up the chicken keeping". Seriously. They are not toys to be manipulated at will to suit your "hobby". Because that is really all Veganism is. If Vegans were REALLY serious about making a real difference then they would not have children to add to the population.

But, sadly many Vegans & vegetarians (Although not all, there are still some with true morals out there) push their pets onto vegan diets that harm them, force their kids to be vegan / vegetarian & they preach about being Vegan or vegetarian to people who, quite frankly, couldn't care less & live in the real world where there is meat & vegetables & fruit. The list could go on & on & the matter is NEVER up for discussion because Vegans / Vegetarian's always know best, even when some of the bad truths lie right under their noses. Its no better than a cult when your attitude is wrong.

Even your parents have told you it is not healthy. Do you think they say it to be mean, because they have something towards eating meat? NO. Its because meat, fish & dairy is all part of a healthy diet.
You will end up ill if you try to live of calorie milkshakes & Vitamin tablets like you suggested, it won't make up for healthy balanced meals in the long run.

You should be glad your parents have been concerned about your health & you should listen to them more.

I hope this thread closes, its just pointless & ridiculous.

This is what you sound like:

"I have chickens, but don't want eggs"

Now, read it again & register how idiotic it sounds.

Let your chickens be chickens & stop this nonsense.

Its a good job your not my kid cause I tell you now, you'd get a right backhander for being so dense!

If a broody wants to go broody, she will go broody whether she has eggs or not. You said you have a Silkie? I don't see why you're so pressed to get rid of your hen's eggs, and I still think you could just eat them, but that's my opinion...

Ooookaaaayyyyy. I've never heard that one!

Easy fix: You don't want to eat the eggs? Give them to someone who will. (Believe me, lots of people will eat them.)
You want to hatch some more? Save some and incubate them.

However, if you are worried about the eggs being produced by your hen, and you hatch those, you suddenly (okay, so a few months...) have more eggs. And if you hatch the eggs from those, you have exponentially more. See where this is going...?

I read through this whole thread and it just sounds as if you didn't know what you were doing when you got chickens. Chickens=eggs bottom line. If you didn't want eggs why did you get a hen? And I thought vegans were against animal abuse, locking your chicken in a dark room to shock her system into not laying eggs is. animal. a.b.u.s.e.
My suggestion is only keep roosters or don't keep chickens. But that has already been suggested and you refuse to conceder that option. So all I can say is im sorry you were not educated before you purchased your chickens.

Maybe, but I know majority of people who takes care of chickens kill chickens for foods. ATM I don't know who to trust, so I wouldn't do it.
Yes, a lot of people consider chickens to be a source of food. I am one of these people. I don't see what's untrustworthy about that...

I answered your post yesterday in the New Members thread. After reading this thread all the way through, I now think I understand the way you are thinking.

Is this because of religious teaching that maybe fertile eggs MUST be hatched, to do otherwise is like aborting a human child? Maybe you could speak to your minister and see how he views this conundrum.

Or maybe you would like to experience pseudo parenthood - have the chicks born and get to raise them.

You said your other hen is broody - when her chicks are hatched do you plan to keep them all or find good homes for them?
