How to make my ex-bats healthier, quicker

Hi. Welcome to BYC. :welcome
I guess that having 'ex batts' your from UK. I have ex batts. When I got them I just gave them battles poultry drink. You just add some to their water. It helps promote feather growth and has added minerals and nutrients aswell.

Don't give to many treats as they aren't to well accustomed to them. Slowly introduce. There combs will start going a normal size and colour after a few weeks and beaks will straighten up too. Mine are fully feathered now but the tail feathers are still pretty ragged. They will improve with their moult. Give them a decent layer pellet like Allen and paige freeholder range natural layer pellets. You shouldn't have any problems with them. They also need loads of hugs!! Well done getting these poor birds. They really do deserve so much more. :thumbsup

Also mine are fairly small hens. I'm not sure of there weight. I'd probably say they want to be 2-2.5 kg. But so long as they have 'meat' around their keel bone(breast bone) they should be OK. You don't want them overweight as this will be unhealthy and can cause other health problems.

Hiya everyone!
Some background:
I have three chickens who have been with me about 6 months and are settling in well, they are so much healthier than they were when we got them and doing great. But, how can i get them to grow more feathers, become more heavy, and have more red combs?
They are laying regularly and have faily red combs. They eat layers pellets and have grit, corn, things they find in the garden, porridge, scrambled eggs, mealworms, and grapes all regularly. They are around 2 and are healthy hens that lay.
Any response will be greatly appreciated!
Thankyou x
