It's pretty well defined in the front but goes kind of sloppy in the back. Her legs are definitely dark though. Just lighter toes.

I learned a really good trick from guy who's had chickens for a while.

He said that the females grow tail feathers before the males do. it's easiest to tell at 2 weeks

It really depends on the breed (and the chook!) but from what I'm reading it seems that in general males seem to feather-in a little slower.

In the big commercial hatcheries they have some breeds that they sex by wing feather length on hatch day.

Ok, i'v got these two 10 day old chicks. No idea what breeds they've got in them but they are mutts. As far as i know they are the same age. The darker one is bigger and has longer more developed wing feathers and is starting to get tail feathers. The yellow one is smaller as still has a fluffy tail. Their combs look the same to me. Any ideas?

Isa Browns are sexlinks and sexable by coloration. Females are golden. Males are silver/white.
