How to stop a broody duck?

Hi,
One of my female khaki campbells has gone broody and was sitting determinedly on a nest of blanks - I haven't got a drake and the majority of the eggs weren't hers. I took the eggs away, I was worried about her health deteriorating over eggs that won't hatch. But she was upset and wouldn't leave the house, she was quacking so I gave her some fake chicken eggs and now she is back, happily sitting on those. My other ducks are cherry valleys and I haven't experienced a broody duck before, I am not sure what to do. I don't want her getting sick - is there anyway I can stop her sitting on them?
Thanks!

Have you taken the eggs away destroyed the nest an locked her out? Some say that works. Other use a broody breaker it’s a cage made out of hardware cloth with no bedding so she has no nesting materials. You lock her in with food and water and I believe it has to be off the ground so air circulates all around. Me I have Muscovy I have tried the taking all eggs destroying the nest and locking out. They will hang on the hardware cloth covering their door wanting back inside so now I just let it run it’s course. I make sure they come out every day to eat swim and poop but just let them get over it on their own. Hopefully someone has had better experience with breaking a broody and will comment soon.

Bets is not to let them go broody in the first place by carefully collecting each and every egg asap! - But ducks are clever and will outsmart you sooner or later and suddenly sit on a clutch of eggs they were hiding somewhere you did not expect.
Happened to me twice and both times i caved in and could not resist the ducks desperate cries… Though i wrote a little article about my broody duck Katharina last year with instructions how to break broodiness this year's broody's cries stopped me from breaking her and the duck family will have some new members by the end of the month.

I took all the eggs again and locked her out but now she’s sitting on the floor on nothing 😫
She seems determined! I don’t want to try the broody breaker- that sounds very uncomfortable! I don’t think I could watch her upset
She seems quite happy waddling about and then sitting on nothing ... maybe I should get her some fertile eggs! I am nervous that she would give up though and I haven’t got an incubator

Why would she give up? Mine will brood till the cows come home if given a chance. They don't even have to have eggs under them. If you don't mind more ducklings see if she'll settle in. Just make her a nice private spot. My 9yr old hasn't laid but maybe one egg this season and is broody. These girls are crazy.
