**How to tell if a hen is broody...**

Ha, it is a good thing that I am addicted to BYC and keep checking back.

I have heard conflicting things about this. Some say not to put them in the fridge at all, but I have heard of some people hatching eggs that have been in the fridge. 3 or 4 weeks seems a little too long to risk it.

i made a thread about this.... its in the hatching eggs section called.... fertile egg question.....VERY IMPORTANT!!! i just wanna see what everybody thinks!

I have to say it won't be fertile. To maximize your chances of hatching, use eggs that are at maximum one week old that have NEVER been put in a fridge. This just bumps up your chances ;)

How cool! My chicks are too young to start laying yet, but that is a great way to test them! I hope you find some fertile eggs and let her hatch them! That's my plan for when someone goes broody!
