How to tell legitimate puppy ads from scammers and puppy mill ads.

the only dogs I would want born inside would be toy dogs.. pets.. if you are buying a real working dog the last place you want it born and raised is inside the house, I am a firm believer that dogs are happier living outside ..

A livestock guardian dog must bond with his charges and therefore he often lives with them 24/7. A true working dog who might have a myriad of jobs and takes direction from his owner needs to have a working bond with the owner, and therefore those dogs can be with the owner to learn the job and directions or sent to do a job. Many of these dogs are born to working canine parents and often in the house where the human/canine bond starts.

Might depend on the dog, but dogs are pack animals and as such they are happiest with their pack, which means my dogs are with me, in or out. And even working dogs get old, and if they're loved and well cared for they will be kept where it is most comfortable for them. Our dogs have always slept in the house, but as they aged they're kept in for longer periods especially during inclement, frigid or sweltering weather.

Thank you for saying what I failed to @dekel18042

I was just going at the temperature angle. But yeah, that bond will be necessary once we get the bigger livestock. Herding with a dog who doesn't listen immediately is miserable.

Our current neighbors have a cattle dog who is an outside only dog. She's 4 now, and they've given up on herding with her. The bond just isn't there. She runs cattle where she feels they need to go. That independence is great in a property guard dog....but not a herding dog.

She is awesome at keeping coyotes and coons away, though.
you can never beet that. our dogs serve as livestock guardian dogs, home security, and we use them for hog hunting, they love going on hikes, and listen perfectly, they are great dogs and have spent less than a full day indoor.. I was told the other day several of my neighbors have been broke into more than once and we haven't been touched. if my dogs were inside somebody would have stole something by now

Maybe. Someone broke into my Aunt's house and her Rottweiler was inside. They got through the door, but didn't get to leave. She came home to the guy pinned down by the dog. So she called the cops and they arrested him, all the while Greta (the dog) snarled against the guy's nose. He was too scared to move.
