How to tell the diff between EE and Ameraucana?

okay...i'll try a differant angle then.....what is an EE? A MUTT. any bird crossed with a blue egg layer is an EE. EEs can lay Blue, Green, Brown, White, Pink eggs. For example if a breeders has a Brown Red Ameraucana rooster and Rhode Island Red hens ten the offspring will probably lay an army green egg, this is an EE. if a breeder crosses a true Ameraucana with an Araucana then the offspring will be and EE. If a breeders crosses a true ameraucana of one color variety with a true Ameraucana of a different color variety then they are technically true Ameraucanas but a responsible breeder will see them as EE since they are not one of the 6 recognized colors. If an Ameraucana breeders is working to develop a new color variety then until it is accepted by the APA and/ABA is is technically an EE.

and what is an Americana? there is no such thing as an Americana.

I love my EEs and my Araucana crossbreds!

I only have Araucana crossbreds because an breeder sold me blue eggs but they hatched out with cochin mixed in them They are my fave birds but not at all what I had paid for. And because of the fact most breeders are mean and snobby I will not be getting anymore of these birds to add to my flock. I've lost all intrest in buying and showing Araucanas. I will show other breeds instead.

I'm not really sure about the BYC rules on links. But I will post this one and if need be, I will edit it. I have been having issues with these breeds and ignorant people in my neck of the woods lately. I searched and searched and the best description I found, I printed and have on my refrigerator. You're not alone. I have also noticed that a lot of "rudeness" is associated with the "breed clubs", of not just the Ameraucanas club, but others too. I think it has a lot to do with "My chickens are better than your chickens". It's actually laughable, lol.

Thing is, folks, as Jean stated, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of posts including pictures of EEs and Ameraucanas on BYC. If you search, you will find them.

An EE is not a breed. Period. It's a mutt. That being said, I have them and I love them! I don't mean to sound rude in any way, but as many have indicated, try searching...this topic has been discussed over and over ad nauseum. Use BYC for what it's here for - lots of good info.!!
